Good Morning, Builders.
Amazon built an AI agent for its own engineers, and software stocks panicked. Claude can now control your Mac while you sleep, and a New Mexico jury handed Meta its first-ever courtroom loss on child safety.
Plus, if you've been told SEO is dead, Anthropic has a $320,000 counterargument.
Let’s get to work.
I. Here’s What’s Inside
The Headlines:
Amazon's AI agent spooked software stocks, Claude can control your Mac, Meta lost a $375M child safety trial, Databricks entered cybersecurity, and Peter Thiel bet on AI cow collars. If SEO Is Dead, Why Is Anthropic Paying $320K for It?:
One of the companies literally building the technology that's supposed to "kill Google" is dropping a third of a million dollars on a single SEO hire. Here's what that means for your website.
II: The Headlines
1. Amazon's AI Agent Wiped Billions Off Software Stocks
Amazon Web Services is building an AI agent to automate the work of thousands of internal tech specialists in areas like cybersecurity and server networking. The news hammered the software sector: the iShares Tech-Software ETF dropped 4%, Salesforce fell 6.2%, Snowflake sank 7.4%, and Microsoft slid 2.7%. When the cloud giant starts replacing its own software jobs with AI, every SaaS company's addressable market gets smaller. (Bloomberg)
2. Claude Can Control Your Mac While You Sleep
Anthropic rolled out computer use for Claude on macOS, giving Pro and Max subscribers an AI that can point, click, open apps, navigate browsers, and fill spreadsheets. Pair it with the new Dispatch feature and you can assign tasks from your iPhone and come back to finished work on your desktop. It's a research preview and Mac-only for now, but this is AI moving from chatbot to coworker. (VentureBeat)
3. Meta Lost Its First Child Safety Trial. $375 Million.
A New Mexico jury ordered Meta to pay $375 million for violating state consumer protection laws by knowingly harming children's mental health and concealing what it knew about child exploitation on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. It's the first time a state has won at trial against a major tech company over child safety, with 40+ state attorneys general lining up with similar lawsuits. Meta says it will appeal. (CNBC)
4. Databricks Bought Two Startups and Built an AI SIEM
Databricks launched Lakewatch, an AI-powered SIEM that unifies security, IT, and business data for threat detection and response. The company acquired startups Antimatter and SiftD to underpin the product, with early customers including Adobe and Dropbox. It's a land grab ahead of a potential IPO: if Lakewatch lands, Databricks owns the data layer AND the security layer. (TechCrunch)
5. Peter Thiel Bet $220M on AI Cow Collars at $2B
New Zealand agtech startup Halter raised $220 million in Series E funding at a $2 billion valuation, led by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund. The company makes solar-powered GPS collars that use AI and audio cues to herd cattle with virtual fencing, no physical infrastructure required. Over 2,000 ranchers now use the system, with a million collars deployed and 60,000 miles of virtual fencing across U.S. pastureland. (Yahoo Finance)
III. If SEO Is Dead, Why Is Anthropic Paying $320K for It?
If you’ve been listening to the "SEO is dead" crowd lately, I have a $320,000 reality check for you.
Anthropic, the AI giant behind Claude, currently valued at $380 billion, is hiring an SEO Lead.
The job ad has been making the rounds on LinkedIn and Reddit, with a lot of people who were on the opposite end of the “SEO is dead” debate having a “told ya so” moment.
Unsurprisingly, Anthropic is offering a big payday for this role, ranging between $255,000 to $320,000 per year.

Now, that’s a big investment, even for a billion-dollar company.
Think about that for a second.
One of the companies literally building the technology that is supposed to "kill Google" is willing to drop nearly a third of a million dollars on a single person to help them rank on... Google.
Why this matters to you
If the leaders in AI are investing this heavily in SEO, we can make the assumption that they know their websites will still be the primary way customers find them for the foreseeable future.
They’re making a strategic investment now by paying for a skilled SEO Lead to take their SEO strategy to the next level.
Too many business owners have been using the "SEO is dead" or "AI is taking over" narrative as an excuse to ignore their most valuable asset, their website.
They let it sit there, static and dusty, while they pump money into every other lead generation source possible.
But Anthropic’s new move might just be your sign to dust off that old website and start investing in SEO!
How to "SEO" like an AI Giant
You don't need a $320k SEO Lead to start winning.
You just need to stop thinking about SEO as "tricking Google" and start thinking about it as actually putting some effort into building a database for the answers your customers are searching for.
If you want to capitalize on this right now, these are 3 things any SEO worth $300k would tell you to do.
1. Start making some notable comparisons
Anthropic knows people are searching for "Claude vs. ChatGPT." They want to own that conversation.
The Play:
Create "Alternative To" or "Comparison" pages for your business. If you’re a Shopify agency, you should have a page titled "Your Agency vs. [Big Competitor]" or "Why Boutique Shopify Agencies Beat Global Firms." Control the narrative before your competitor does.
2. Turn your "Work" into "Searchable Assets"
Most agencies bury their best work in a PDF or a "Portfolio" tab that Google can't read.
The Play:
Stop posting "Projects" and start posting "Solutions."
Instead of a page called "Client X Web Design," name it "How to Scale a Luxury Skincare Brand to $1M with SEO-First Design." That is a long-tail keyword that your dream customer is actually typing into a search bar.
And, if you’re a local business, take photos of your completed work. If you’re a professional like an attorney, include photos of your clients (with permission, of course). This makes your work tangible, credible, and more valuable for both users and search engines.
3. Optimize for "Answer Engines" (AIOs)
Anthropic’s Job Description mentions "AI Overviews." These engines pull from clear, structured data.
The Play:
Add a "TL;DR" or a "Key Takeaways" bulleted list to the top of every case study and blog post. AI engines love structured summaries. If you make it easy for the AI to read, you become the cited source.
4. The "Listicle" of Authority
Listicles aren't just for BuzzFeed (haven't heard that name in years) anymore. They are how you capture top-of-funnel intent.
The Play:
Write the "Top 5 [Services] in [Your Niche]" and put yourself at #1. It feels cheesy, but it works because it provides immediate utility to a buyer who is in the "research phase."
